Vodafone India today announced the launch of 1st ever Wap health portal “Ask a doctor” a unique health portal for its customers. With the current service health and care service launched its becomes the simplest mode to ask any query on health.

This service is priced at Rs. 5/day and allows customers to ask unlimited queries or questions from qualified experts. Answers to the queries or questions will be provided within 24 hours.

Facebook wants your Mobile Number

In a bid to improve security on Facebook, the social networking website is asking each of its more than 900 million active users to provide it with their mobile phone numbers.

The move comes in the wake of much-publicised password hacks at other networking sites including LinkedIn and eHarmony, the Daily Mail reported.

Millions of Facebook users have already seen a link at the top of their desktop news feed requesting them to follow simple security tips.

Those that click on the link are led to the site’s security page, where they are asked to pick a unique password and given a tutorial on how to spot an online scam.

They are then requested to provide their phone number for secure account recovery.

This, Facebook claims, works because when a user confirms their phone number it allows the site to automatically wipe their password in the event of their account being hacked.

The social network would then send a text message to the user informing that their password has been changed.

This, the site reasons, would be preferable to sending the user and email because many of these are ignored as assumed junk and get deleted.

Facebook said the desktop security message, already seen by millions of users in the U.S., will be on all accounts in the next few days.

Safety Of Mobile Phones

Remember to ::
	Keep your phone out of sight in your pocket or handbag when not in use
	Use your phone's security lock code, if it has one
	Install a tracer software if it is available in the market.
	Record details of your IMEI number or Electronic Serial Number (ESN) and consider separate insurance
	You can obtain IMEI number by typing *#06# (star hash 06 hash) into your mobile phone and it will display a 15 digit number
	Feed your address and alternative number in welcome message of your mobile phone. If it is found, you can be contacted at least.
	Copy the sensitive data, contact details and pictures from mobile phone to your personal computer.
	Report a lost or stolen phone to the police immediately
	Inform your service provider if your phone is stolen or lost

Don't
	Attract attention to your phone when you are carrying or using it in the street
	Leave your phone in an unattended car, on your table, cash counters, wash basins.
	Give to strangers who just make a call as their phone is discharged or there is no balance in the mobile phone.

Cloud Storage: How Useful is Google Drive?

Did you know that you store a lot of your personal and official information on a cloud? Where do you think all the attachments in your web mail accounts are stored? However, when it comes to consciously storing data and accessing it, most of us prefer a USB flash drive or, if the data is sizeable, a portable hard disk drive (HDD). Now, Google Drive aims to change this since it is not just a warehouse, but also offers a bunch of applications. 


An office suite 

At first glance, Google Drive seems just another storage service; all you see is a series of files that you would want to share. However, when you visit the Google Drive website ( drive.google.com), you will also see a 'create' option, which lets you use Google's online office suite, Google Docs. This allows you to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, drawings, even presentations, providing you with an online office suite. It's almost like having a computer in your browser.

To use Google Drive, all you need is a Google ID. If you have a Gmail account, it will suffice. You can also download the Google Drive app on your computer, be it a PC or a Mac, as well as Android phone and tablet. Though you can create and edit documents through the app on your Android phone, this facility isn't available offline if the app is downloaded on to your computer.

Google Drive offers 5 GB of storage for free. If you need more, you will have to shell out a monthly fee, which starts at $2.49 (Rs 137) a month for 25 GB, and goes up to $800 (Rs 44,000) a month for 16 TB. Upgrading to a paid account will also expand the storage of your Gmail account and Picasa web albums as the storage is shared among these. 

Share and sync 

The search feature is very good as you can hunt not just for document names but also terms used in them and, in a neat touch, even for words used in scanned documents. In fact, you can upload PDFs and scanned documents and Google Drive will translate them into Google Docs using optical character recognition. However, this aspect requires some fine-tuning. Google Drive keeps most of Google Docs' sharing options intact. So you can share documents and files from Google Drive either by sending them as attachments or simply by sharing links. 

This is where we discovered another impressive feature of Google Drive. If you share a document with someone else, they will be able to view it even if they do not have the software you used to create it. For instance, if you share an image you created using Photoshop, it can be seen by recipients even if they do not have Photoshop. What's more, they will be able to comment on it. 

The best part is that all the files you store on your Google Drive will be synchronised automatically across different devices, allowing you to access the same files from different computers, phones and tablets. You can even see live updates of changes made by you or anyone you have shared a file with. All you need is an Internet connection, so you don't have to worry about carrying your pen drive.

What’s an IP address?

An Internet Protocol address (or IP address) is a unique 32-bit number that identifies the location of your computer network.  It serves as your computer’s “street address,” enabling other computers to find out exactly where you are and deliver information to you.

 

Did the Internet run out of IP addresses?

Yes. The Internet, in its current form, has used up all its IPv4 addresses. According to the Number Resource Organization, the world officially ran out of IPv4 address in February 2011.  All that can be done now is to divide the allocated properties into ever-smaller portions or trade what’s already been assigned – moves that could complicate and compromise your privacy.

 

What’s IPv4?

IPv4 stands for Internet Protocol version 4. It is the underlying technology that makes it possible for us to connect our devices to the web. Whenever a device accesses the Internet (whether it’s a PC, Mac, smartphone or other device), it is assigned a unique, numerical IP address such as 99.48.227.227.  To send data from one computer to another, a data packet must be transferred across the network containing the IP addresses of both devices.  Without IP addresses, computers would not be able to communicate and send data to each other. It's essential to the infrastructure of the web.

 

What’s IPv6?

IPv6 is the sixth revision to the Internet Protocol and the successor to IPv4. It functions similarly to IPv4 in that it provides the unique, numerical IP addresses necessary for Internet-enabled devices to communicate. However, it does sport one major difference: it utilizes 128-bit addresses.

 

What is World IPv6 Launch?

Major Internet service providers (ISPs), home networking equipment manufacturers, and web companies around the world are coming together to permanently enable IPv6 for their products and services by 6 June 2012.

 

How to Hide the HDD Partitions?

This trick is for all those people who wants to hide tons of data into their box. So here it is, if you have very important data in your hard drive placed in some partition which you do not want anybody to see then this trick is only for you!!!

1. Just click on start>run type gpedit.msc

2. Now navigate through user configuration> administrative templates > windows components> windows explorer

3. Double click on “Hide these specified drives in My Computer” modify it accordingly.

4. Then just below you will find another option “Prevent access to drives from My Computer”, double click on this option and modify it accordingly.

5. To make it visible again select "disable" by double clicking on the “Hide these specified drives in My Computer” option.

WARNING : Don't try to experiment with other options in gpedit.msc if you don't know, what exactly your doing. Just have some patience and follow my tutorials regularly, i am going to tell you everything that is configurable in windows [and those also which you thought before, "Seems not possible to change ;-)"

The steps in this tip will show you how to edit the registry for a time-saving shortcut for enabling and disabling your screensaver.

When you perform maintenance operations such as defragmenting or backing up the hard disk, you probably disable your screensaver before you begin to prevent it from interfering with the maintenance operation. However, disabling your screensaver manually is a multi step operation that involves accessing the Display Properties dialog box, navigating to the Screen Saver tab, and setting the screen saver to None. Then, you need to re-enable the screen saver after you complete the maintenance operation.

Fortunately, you can automate the disabling and enabling screen saver procedures with a couple of registry shortcuts. Note: Editing the registry is risky, so make sure you have a verified backup before making any changes.

Here's how.

1. Launch Notepad and type the following four lines. (Note: The second line must be blank.)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

"ScreenSaveActive"="0"

2. Save the file to your desktop with the name Disable Screen Saver.reg.

3. Change the 0 to a 1 in the fourth line.

4. Save the file to your desktop with the name Enable Screen Saver.reg.

Now, when you need to disable the screen saver, just double-click the Disable Screen Saver.reg shortcut. To enable the screen saver, double-click the Enable Screen Saver.reg shortcut.

When you run either of these files, the Registry Editor will display two confirmation prompts—one before making the change and one after making the change.
